In Paris, John Kerry and Laurent Fabius repeat their common position on Syria
At a joint press conference YESTERDAY Saturday night in Paris, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and his U.S. counterpart John Kerry reaffirmed their joint position for a military intervention in Syria
While European foreign ministers have claimed, Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Vilnius "strong response " to chemical attack in Syria, the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius met in early evening in Paris .
Hollande address the French by the end of the week
President Francois Hollande said on Saturday in Nice, on the sidelines of the opening of the 7th Francophone Games , he would address the French by the end of the week, after the vote of the U.S. Congress , the report of UN experts and " a possible referral of the United Nations."
At a press conference, they reaffirmed their common position in favor of a military intervention in Syria . Laurent Fabius welcomed the " broad and growing support " to a "strong " response to chemical attacks attributed to the regime of Bashar al- Assad. "Now , seven of eight G8 countries share our analysis on a strong reaction and 12 G20 countries also share this view ," he added, also citing the support of the European Union and the Council of the Gulf Cooperation .
For his part, John Kerry reiterated that " we can not remain indifferent to this massacre ." "We need to provide targeted and limited response , but no less clear and effective ," said the head of American diplomacy , even joining Laurent Fabius on this point. Speaking on behalf of President Barack Obama, he thanked France to stand alongside the United States in the decision to intervene .
John Kerry also said that President Obama had not yet decided whether or not expect the outcome of UN inspectors to intervene.
